Music and dance from the Silk Road in Kervanseraj

Fahrettin Yarkin is the Turkish Ry Cooder

Come on a journey through the music that travellers from China brought to Central Asia. Kervanseraj is an ambitious production with four dancers and no less than ten musicians. Grup Kervan presents Turkmen, Kurdish, Azerbaijani and Uyghur folk music, mixing it with the mystical sounds of Anatolia and Gypsy music from Thrace, the European part of Turkey. For years percussionist and arranger Fahrettin Yarkin, like a Turkish Ry Cooder, has explored various musical traditions and laid connections between different cultures. An example was his great success on the Dutch stage with the From Sufi to Flamenco programme. In Kervanseraj he shows his versatility again with an impassioned programme.
